It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and that means you and your staff will be busy, busy, busy planning holiday-themed engagement opportunities, parties, and other general merrymaking events. We want to help, so here are some unique and festive holiday virtual event ideas.
Include Dynamic Elements
We previously shared a blog post that included 6 ideas to make your next virtual event more fun and dynamic – and many of those insights can also help you plan something fun for the holidays.
Adding holiday trivia, music or concert viewing, virtual festive food and drink experiences and more can help make the holiday season more unique and cheerful for your staff. This doesn’t mean you have to schedule and devote several hours per week to the festivities. Instead, you can start your weekly meetings or daily check-in chats with a quick video conference where you play a short game or have each team member share something they look forward to about the holiday season.
Have a Zoom background holiday decorating contest and allow everyone to vote on their favorites, and don’t forget to still have those wacky holiday dress-up days. There are tons of great ways to get people into the holiday spirit without affecting their mood or productivity in negative ways.
Promote Health and Wellness Events
We know, it sounds counterintuitive to push health and wellness during the sugar-filled holidays, but hear us out. According to Study Finds, 77% of respondents said they struggle to find time to relax during the holiday season.
And what better way to get people in the holiday spirit than to give them a moment of stress relief or unencumbered joy? You can do this by offering a holiday dance class, or even sharing 1-5 minute meditation, relaxation, or yoga events on your company intranet.
Schedule holiday virtual events where you share the best tips for enjoying holiday food without feeling miserable. Share healthy recipe alternatives or set up a Christmas Challenge that focuses on keeping your employees hydrated during the holidays.
Run meetings or roundtable discussions that center on how to broach difficult conversations at family dinner, or have show-and-tell sessions about favorite memories or funny mishaps that have taken place at professional or personal Christmas events in the past.
Virtual events don’t have to be corporate conference-sized. They can be as small as Conference Call Caroling, where remote and geographically-diverse teams jump on for 2 minutes to sing a holiday tune together at the beginning or end of the day.
Give Back
Many charitable holiday initiatives are done in-house, but that doesn’t mean you can’t create some great remote events to help underscore the true meaning of the season.
Create a shared funding page or offer a corporate PayPal or Venmo account and create a holiday virtual event around raising funds or items for a specific cause.
You can encourage team members to donate a certain amount to the Christmas Charity fund, and in exchange, host a virtual watch party of a holiday classic movie or TV episode or enter each participant into a prize drawing. The great thing about creating holiday virtual events is they can come in all shapes, sizes, and levels of festivity and participation.
